The end of 2009 looks very promising for the music fans. Warsaw will host one of the most famous British orchestras in the world - the BBC BIG BAND. During the New Year's Eve concerts the band will play breathtaking arrangements of the biggest pop hits and the greatest jazz standards.

The guest star performance will be given by an unquestionable diva of Polish music - Edyta Górniak. In the first part of each concert the audience of Sala Kongresowa will also hear an incredibly talented young Polish vocalist - Monika Dryl. Only for this event have both vocalists prepared original arrangements of the greatest hits of all times. STX JAMBOREE Agency is the organizer of the Great New Year's Eve concerts.

During this special night two concerts will take place. The first one starts at 7 pm and the second one - at 10.30 pm (with the break at 11.30 for the New Year's celebration). The BBC Big Band will play with special guest appearances of Edyta Górniak and Monika Dryl during both concerts.

British Council has successfully cooperated with STX JAMBOREE for many times. The STX JAMBOREE Agency can pride itself from having organized numerous concerts and cultural events for many years - always keeping top quality. The BBC Big Band is widely regarded as the UK's leading Big Band. It has won the prestigious 'Best Big Band Award' at the British Jazz Awards six times, most recently in 2007, and was nominated for the same award again in 2008. The Band has entertained thousands with international stars such as Tony Bennett, George Benson, Van Morrison, Joe Lovano, Claire Martin, Amy Winehouse, and Ray Charles.

In addition to its regular studio and concert recordings, the BBC Big Band regularly gives live performances at major venues around the UK, as well as touring with major music artists abroad. Within the UK, the BBC Big Band is probably best known for its regular Monday night show Big Band Special hosted by vocalist Clare Teal on BBC Radio 2, as well its appearances on BBC Radio 3's Jazz Line Up. The band's performances also reach huge global audiences through its regular broadcasts for the BBC World Service, satellite radio and via the internet.

Building on the strong reputation it has built up through performances on the UK and European festival circuit, the BBC Big Band has recently appeared at the London, Coventry, Gateshead, Cheltenham, Edinburgh, Great North, Swansea, Scarborough and Brecon jazz festivals, as well as appearances at London's Royal Albert Hall. Highlights of the current season include a series of six concerts for broadcast on BBC Radio 2 and a tour in Mexico, where the band joined forces on stage with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra to play a Beatles-inspired programme to enthusiastic audiences totaling 20,000.
